Project History
During our initial planning stage, we decided on the following guidelines for choosing our school's location.
1: Within reasonable travel distance from Beijing
2: Mandarin chinese speaking community (so that in future we can facilitate language teachers)
3: An area with demonstrable need
4: Acceptable plans for school
5: Agreement for future cooperation and maintenance.
With these parameters in mind we have decided to build the CNYTrust School in Hebei
1: Travel to school from Beijing by car requires around eight hours
2: Mandarin chinese speaking community but with a variety of minority ethnicities represented
3: Education facilities currently exist but are limited to scattered non purpose built mud houses and a larger purpose built school constructed in the early 1970's out of mud and clay bricks. This facility has recently been classed level "D" by a visiting government education inspector (A being safe and E being non usable) in terms of building stability.
4: Current plans have the school building being a two storey facility with a capacity to accomodate for 300 students. The building would serve a large catchment area, replacing most existing facilities. Local authorities have pledged a total sum of RMB400,000 contingent on a further RMB200,000 being raised by an outside sponsor. CNYTrust believes that this represents a project with both acceptable plans and much promise for future further development.
5: CNYTrust representatives have visited the school site, negotiated terms for future cooperation and maintenance of the school and have found its future partners for the school to be highly capable.
