Sichuan Earthquake Support

Project: Help children affected by the Sichuan Earthquake re-gain access to education

The Issue: The Sichuan Earthquake was an unexpected natural disaster that affected millions of people. The region was totally unprepared, particularly in the rural areas, and many people lost their homes, belongings and most importantly, loved ones. As families worked hard to re-establish themselves following the disaster, often parents could no longer afford to send their children to school.

Execution: Our local Beijing team visited schools in the region to see where we could help most effectively. The Yunxi Key Primary School was selected, after we met with teachers and the children there. We decided to sponsor as many children from the Yunxi Key Primary School as possible to help them continue with their education.

Result: Since 2009, we have sponsored 24 children at the Yunxi Key Primary School. In total, we spent around £4,000 on sponsorships, which have helped the students and children to rebuild their lives, despite the tragic events of the Earthquake.

Where your money goes

For every £1 raised, we aim for 60p to benefit our students. The remaining 40p helps to raise the next £1.
